Favian Guerra was driving a 1997 Toyota Avalon in Scott County on I-80 at the 278 mile marker in the eastbound lanes of traffic. A deer ran out in front of his car. Guerra is reported to have swerved to miss the deer, then drove across the median and into eastbound traffic where he came into contact with a semi-truck being driven by Dennis Edelman from Sunset, Texas. Edelman was not injured but Guerra was fatally injured in the crash. Jason Holman was a passenger in the Guerra vehicle. He is 29 and was taken to Genesis Davenport Hospital for treatment. The accident occurred at 2:00 a.m. on I-80.

The lesson here is to just let them go. Hit the deer. It’s not worth trying to avoid it. Keep a sharp eye out and if you can’t avoid them hit them dead center.
