When considering the age of farm children who spend unmeasured hours toiling to do farm chores, it's not surprising when another is injured. Augers causing injury is something I'm quite familiar with having sued Beatrice the manufacturer of this type of equipment.
In Dodgeville, Wisconsin in Iowa County a teenaged boy, 16-years-old was injured by an auger when his leg was caught in the mechanisms. This occurred on June 14, 2007.
Iowa County sheriff's officials said that a 16-year-old boy was hospitalized with unknown injuries after a farming accident Wednesday. Emergency crews were called to a residence on James Road, about six miles north of Dodgeville at about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, WISC-TV reported.
This is what tort deformers want to ignore and to persuade you doesn't exist or won't change. But tort deformers really want to take away this boys rights to compensation for future surgeries, lost wages and a life of reduced earning capacity. This boy is not a statistic, this is a human being that doesn't show up in the manufacturer's annual report of earnings.
Fight tort deform in any form. Encourage those spending money to advocate for tort deform instead spend money on making farming equipment safer. Fight for your rights and vote for those who protect your rights.
