In Iowa its fall and that means crops coming out of the fields and being delivered to elevators. It also means an increase in collisions and deaths. State officials warn all drivers on the roads to be more aware of farm equipment, to slow it down, to watch closely as you top a hill and to look on each side towards fields and gates to see equipment coming out or going in. Stay back from slow moving vehicles. Remember the farmers are working and they can be distracted with their work. The equipment is large and needs more room to make turns. That same equipment doesn't move as fast or as quick as a small car or motorcycle. In 2006 eight people died in collisions with farm machinery and equipment. If the crashes are analyzed most occur because of left turns, rear-end and passing collisions. These are the types of crashes most often seen.

So open your eyes, slow down, get rid of the distractions in the car, don't be yakking on your cell phones and be more aware.
