A comment on The Interstate Highway Graveyard, "Speed Kills"

Silly chart...the 'posted' speed lmit is a super arbitrary number, the legislatures (federal and state) control the limits in terms of revenue. It is all a load of B S. There are some roads where 75mph is O K. Others, where you could/should be allowed to go faster. Still others where 75 is too high. Reasonableness is the key.

A comment on What makes a case good or bad?

Just like our motto of "Justice For the Injured", yours speaks to the reality of it not always being a rosy result. Expectations clearly covers the way the client needs to understand what can be done and what can't. That the law does limit claims and the facts are the facts in cases. They should be heartened you know you have the experience to beat the expectations, understand and present the facts in an affective manner, and most of all care enough to take the cases that make a difference in their lives.

Truckie D: Nice to hear from you. Any interest in joining in on a series Devon Glass, Wayne Parsons and I are posting on Interstate Safety? If so let me know; we'd love to read your perspective on this week’s issues that include drunken driving, wrong-way driving and uninsured drivers. Your expertise is invaluable. Thanks.

A comment on Who wins and loses when a Ford Focus and a fully-loaded semi-truck crash?

Steve,

One minor correction: you said "...Take a look at the semi-truck: In North America they will have three axles, 18 wheels,..."

In North America, they usually have five axles.

You might also want to look at truck regulations in Michigan -- they run eleven axle monsters up there called "Michigan Trains". A few years ago, one of the trucking magazines (I don't remember which one) did an article on truck regulations around the country, and around the world. The regulations in Michigan were so different from the rest of the US that for the purposes of the article, they treated them as a whole other country.

You might also want to look at the Canadian regulations -- Canada legal trucks are allowed in the US on certain highways for a limited distance.

Also, you may find the difference between A doubles, B doubles and C doubles relevant.

This is an interesting post. When I have some extra time, I plan on putting in my two cents worth. I'm also looking forward to more of your posts on the subject.
