In fact if you settle before knowing the full extent of your future medical needs your right to receive paid treatment in the future can be jeopardized. Some clients are anxious to settle quickly, get paid and move on. While others are overly cautions.
The same can be said about attorneys. Some attorneys seem too eager to settle the client's case and move on to the next client. That can be bad; not always but in many instances it ends badly for the injured worker. If your attorney seems a bit too anxious look closer and start asking questions.
Does your attorney actually try cases or settle them all?
Is this a volume practice or a real trial practice?
Does your attorney seem uninterested in what you have to say and too busy to meet with you?
If the attorney wishes to only discuss settlement then ask him/her why.
Ask how he will prove the value of future medical needs.
In other words protect yourself and your claim. Seek out the real deal and get yourself a trial lawyer not one that settles every case.
