Some stories need a further explanation and without additional facts a story can lack perspective. This is one of those stories.

Attempted murder charges filed against son who attempted to cut a pacemaker from his father’s chest using a pocketknife. The father is 63 year-old Charles Fierstine from the Manchester area of Iowa. It is alleged by police the son hit the father over the head with first a flashlight and then a piece of firewood.

"We're all sitting here dumbfounded. It's like something out of 'The Twilight Zone,' " Charles Fierstine's brother, James, of Garber told the Waterloo Courier.

This story is covered by KCCI, the Waterloo Courier and The Des Moines Register.
