Crawford County double standard. We've all said it to our children, "Take responsibility for your actions." And then there is the often quoted word to the wise normally stated after trouble has occurred, "There are consequences to your actions."

We've all said it to our children, "Take responsibility for your actions." And then there is the often quoted word to the wise normally stated after trouble has occurred, "There are consequences to your actions."

And then there is Crawford County, who invited the RAGBRAI riders into their county to make a buck off of the riders but when one rider was injured the County wanted no part of being financially responsible. We needn't wonder why the youth of today are disgruntled to follow our lead. Look no further than the actions of those older adults around them to see why they are disgruntled. Actions speak louder than words. Don't do as I do, do as I say for you do. Confused? So are they.

Crawford County isn't necessarily stuck with financial responsibility they just don't appreciate legally how to indemnify themselves. Come back tomorrow and maybe the counties will figure out it's time for some solid legal advice.
