The value of human life in the minds of Californian's must be worth more than Iowans in the minds of Iowans. A Sioux City woman's life is worth $3.75 million dollars but in Iowa an 11 year old is worth less than $14,000.00. There are times in life when being smug cheapens the very values you profess to honor.

It's good to know some communities still value human life. The claim by Cindy Connolly's family was settled by the City of Oxnard for $3.75 million dollars. Cindy Connolly, 49 and from Sioux City, Iowa attended her son's wedding in Oxnard, California, and while sunbathing on the beach she was run over by the Oxnard police beach patrol. I find it interesting that a California city values an Iowan's life more than Iowans. Iowans like to point the finger at California's as to how they no longer value life, but it seems that aren't quite true. After seeing some of the recent verdicts and settlements in Iowa, I have to wonder if the reverse isn't becoming true.

How, according to an Iowa jury it is a 11 year old girl's life is worth the out-of-pocket expenses and has no value to the parents; is beyond my comprehension? Perhaps if she were from California she'd be worth more? Or if she were killed in California she would have been worth more to a jury. How sad it is in Iowa that we've become a society overcome by fear and unable to reject the politics of fear.
